Laura Cabrera- NLP Therapist

How long is an NLP session?

Allow one and a half hours. But remember, each person is unique and has their own rhythm. For the first consultation it is a good idea to allow an extra half hour so that I can explain the techniques and NLP process to you.

What happens at the session?

First, we identify your present state. Then we identify your desired state or desired therapy outcome. We also identify the problem blocking your path. Finally, we work together to identify new resources, opportunities, alternatives and options.

And how are we going to do that?

NLP therapy is about shifting and observing the problem or situation from different point of views. In order to do that we work in a psychogeographical space ( psycho refers to the “subjective experience” and geographical is refers to the “space”). All NLP work is based on it. The physical space we occupy has it own mental equivalent. This is best illustrated by the Perceptual Position technique , which refers to looking at situations from three different points of view or perspectives. It is a way of analyzing or evaluating a situation. The three positions and the integrated or Meta position are described as follows:

  • First Position
  • - where we are conscious of our experiences.

  • Second Position
  • - when put yourself in another person's “shoes”, the position of other.

  • Third Position
  • - the observer position. It is an objective point of view, evaluating oneself and others from an impartial place.

  • Meta Position
  • - is an integrated vision of the whole system.

Why NLP Therapy is different from the traditional therapy?

One of the fundamental principles of NLP is that we work with FORM not with CONTENT in order to avoid interferences or restrictions.

FORM refers to how people construct their experiences through their senses. People use sensorial data to create a representation or imprint about their world. FORM is same as “thought patterns” in this case.

With NLP techniques it is possible to organize the elements and “thought patterns” linked to these representations. Consequently, we are able to find an adequate way to facilitate changes.

The CONTENT refers to specific traumatic situations which the patient can choose to keep on secret or share with the therapist.

How many NLP sessions will it take?

The process of healing therapy is dependent on your desired outcomes and your own expectations about change. Because this differs with each person I cannot predict how many sessions it will take, but the number of sessions is in your control.

It is important to understand that NLP therapy process it is a short term therapy.
